I am searching for relatives and ancestors who lived in and around Kiev. The farthest back I can go is to my third great grandfather Aaron HaCohen Mednikopff or, more likely Mednikopff. He had a sister, Tuba or Taube. He was married twice, and his second wife was Hannah. She died in 1913. I have no dates for Aaron.
Hannah and Aaron lived in Kiev, and had seven children: Usher (1840-1930s), Minnie Gittel (1852-1925), Jacob or Yakov (1866-1938) Bella (1866-1952), Shaya, Chaim (d. 1913), and Moishe.
Minnie and her husband Moses Block Hirsch emigrated to the United States, making their home in Columbus, GA. Her son, Isadore lived with his family in Cripple Creek, and Denver, CO, as well as in Columbus, GA, and Boston, MA.
Jacob came to Chicago with his family.
Bella married Herschel Bonfeld, and lived in Birmingham, AL, Columbus, GA, and Boston, MA.
Usher's daughter Runya married Chaim Levin, and they lived in Columbus, GA.
I have some information on family who remained in Russia, but am seeking more information. There are also rumors of family living in South Africa.
