The project is designed to identify and collect Jewish individuals and family with a connection to Meclov Metzling.

Meclov is a village and municipality (obec) in Domažlice District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. The municipality covers an area of 31.96 square kilometres (12.34 sq mi), and has a population of 1,055 (as at 28 August 2006). Meclov lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north-west of Domažlice, 45 km (28 mi) south-west of Plzeň, and 129 km (80 mi) south-west of Prague.

This town is in the Klatovsky district according to the Geni page. In German this town is called Metzling. I welcome additions to this page.

According to info from Julius Muller: The first record on the village dates back to 1115. Since 1379 it was part of Pobežovice estate. In Jewish Census 1793, there were 8 families (2x WÜRTZLER, BLOCH, WEISHUTH, HERSCHL, KLAUBER, HIRSCHWALD, GRÜNHUT). Synagogue build up in 1856, today used as firestation. Family history notes: WIRTZLER-WETZLER family lived in house no.3 and XXXV

The Meclov/Metzling community used the cemetery in Pobezovice. I (Tony Hausner) took photos in that cemetery.

This website shows the names of fallen WWI soldiers, including some from Meclov, from which perhaps some profiles can be found.

in 2010, my wife, Toba, and I along with our guide, Julius Muller from Prague, visited several towns in the Klatovy District. The following document: https://tinyurl.com/bohemiatrip2010th contains a guidebook prepared by Julius, photos from the cemeteries in the district and more. Please feel free to share.
