Oliver Lang Ship: 1224 tons Captain: Joseph Mundle Surgeon Superintendent: Sailed Liverpool September 24th 1856 - arrived Wellington December 19th 1856 also to Nelson and Lyttelton
(From the "Wellington Independent,' Dec. 20) ARRIVAL OF THE OLIVER LANG, This noble vessel arrived yesterday afternoon from Liverpool, after a quick passage of eightyfive days, bringing the welcome addition to our population of 414 souls. The Oliver Lang left Liverpool on the 24th September, and was cast off by the steam-tug on the following morning. A constant succession of light winds retarded the commencement of the voyage the line not being crossed until the thirty -first day. From thence to Tasmania the run was very good, being off that island on the seventy-second day, and from thence to this port in thirteen more.
The favourable appearance of the passengers under Government regulations, was warmly noticed by the large number of settlers who visited the ship yesterday afternoon. There have been four births on board and twelve deaths, nine of which were children.
