Newfoundland and Labrador Bravery Award

The Newfoundland and Labrador Bravery Award is an award that can be presented to citizens of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Ternms

The government of the Newfoundland and Labrador may present an award to a citizen of the province whose life and safety have been risked while giving assistance to another person.

The Lieutenant-Governor in Council may appoint a review panel for the purpose of accepting and considering nominations of persons eligible to receive the award. The review panel shall recommend to the Lieutenant-Governor in Council the names of those persons who are eligible to receive the award

Descriptrion

The award is 57 mm square and is minted in bronze with a gold plated mat finish.

Obverse

A circular inner rim enclosing a stylized drama at sea symbolic of the courageous heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Reverse

The words “NEWFOUNDLAND and LABRADOR FOR BRAVERY".

Ribbon

A 25 mm wide, blue, grosgrain ribbon (Grosgrain – a coarse, often stiffened fabric made of silk, mohair, wool or a blend of them).

Dates

The current version has been in effect since 01 June 1992 and was first created in 1984 and accepted into the Canadian Honours System on 26 September 2001.
