The most distance common ancestor on the Kidd line is William J Kidd b. circa 1814 in Virginia. Y-DNA testing has proven that William J Kidd b. circa Jan 1814 in Virginia is not the son of William Kidd (1774-1834) and Francis Taylor Williams. At this time, his parents are unknown but extensive Y-DNA research is being conducted to identify them through Y-DNA and Autosomal DNA matches on FamilyTreeDNA. If you, or a male relative are direct descendants of the William J Kidd line, please go to FamilyTreeDNA and have a Y-DNA test conducted at the 37 marker level or higher. The probability of finding a common male Kidd (or other surname) ancestor increases as more male direct descendants are tested.
