Henrietta Mello Mayer has spent many years researching the descendants of Manuel and Mary Enos Silva. Their many US descendants stem from some of the earliest Portuguese to settle in Stonington, Connecticut, USA. She published her work in a slim volume, titled as this project is named. My family are direct descendants of this line, and the grateful beneficiaries of her work. As there is no current means to easily note a physical book source via Geni, I am providing reference to the Silva Descendents via this project.
The goal of this project is to include all direct descendants of Manuel and Mary Enos Silva listed in her book, and to expand on it by adding those born since her book was compiled (pre-1980), as well as the ancestors of these families in Portugal, the Azores and elsewhere. Researchers finding they've connections to the lines noted here are welcome to add their findings to this project. Please add direct descendants and only those spouses of direct descendants with which they had children.
There is also a second book by Henrietta, South of the Cannons. available via the Stonington HIstorical Society, here. it has further information on Stonington area Portuguese family history, with information back as far as the 17th century.
