The state of Wyoming was organized as a U.S. territory on July 25, 1868 from parts of Dakota, Idaho, and Utah territories. It includes land acquired by the U.S. under the Louisiana Purchase (1803), the Annexation of Texas (1845), the Oregon Treaty (1846, and Mexican Cession (1848). Wyoming was admitted to the Union on July 10, 1890.
