This project is to note the artists whose art was stolen, lost , or found after theft.
Many artists during WWII had their art looted and sold or destroyed by the Nazi Germany, Japan and the Soviet Union.
Some of the artists whose art was stolen were labeled Degenerate by the Nazi Regime.
There is also a project for the Degenerate Artists and many artists profiles are not on Geni.com yet.
Recently, two works by Van Gogh have been recovered that were said to be lost 14 years ago. https://www.vangoghmuseum.nl/en/news-and-press/press-releases/two-s...
This is a working project and all collaborators are welcomed. Suggestions are also welcomed on how to streamline the project description or to categorize it by era or artist.

Woman in Gold
Sixty years after fleeing Vienna, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), an elderly Jewish woman, attempts to reclaim family possessions that were seized by the Nazis. Among them is a famous portrait of Maria's beloved Aunt Adele: Gustave Klimt's "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I." With the help of young lawyer Randy Schoeberg (Ryan Reynolds), Maria embarks upon a lengthy legal battle to recover this painting and several others, but it will not be easy, for Austria considers them national treasures.
