The Bukharian Extended Family

Bukharian or Bukharan Jews are an amalgamation of Jews who settled in Central Asia over the span of the Common Era and have crystallized into a unique subculture. Geographically, the area of interest is confined to these republics of the former Soviet Union; Tajikistan, western Kyrgyzstan, south Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and eastern Turkmenistan. There is evidence of origins from Eastern Europe, Spain, Morocco, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq ultimately originating from Israel.

This subculture dispersed after the fall of the former USSR to North America, Israel and to a lesser extent Europe, Canada and Australia.

I am starting this project for several reasons;

1. I have noticed trees on this site which should be connected but are not.
2. To allow collaborators to make connections otherwise not possible because of geographic limitations.
3. To reach further back into history and prove that all Bukharians are all somehow related.

As we identify users with whom we can connect and grow the Bukharian tree, we will invite them to collaborate.
