It started as a room attached to a cow shed and suffered two fires forcing rebuilds, but a school in rural Taranaki has made it to its 125th anniversary.
Toko School now boasts six classrooms, is completely wireless for kids to bring their own devices, and was the first school in Taranaki to get gold status as an Enviroschool, an initiative to encourage sustainability.
While neighbouring rural schools get closed down, Toko survives with a growing roll count.
