Treblinka Uprising Survivors

Project Tags

Treblinka was one of 3 death installations, constructed by the German Nazis in eastern Poland as part of "Reinhard Operation" for mass-murdering the Jewish population of the "Generalgouvernement" and other jewish communities.

About 870,000 jews were murdered in Treblinka immediately upon arrival during the 13 months of the site's operation. Several hundreds were forced to work in handling the dead bodies and their belongings.

On August 2nd 1943, the jewish forced labor workers started an uprising. Few hundreds of them succeeded to pass the fences and the mine fields surrounding the installation. Most of them were caught or killed while trying to escape.

This project attempts to list the names of Terblinka survivors.
