These elections mark 100 years of direct elections of U.S. Senators.
Elections for the United States Senate will be held on November 4, 2014, with 33 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate being contested in regular elections whose winners will serve six-year terms from January 3, 2015 to January 3, 2021.
Additionally, special elections will be held to fill vacancies that occur during the 113th United States Congress. Currently, there are 36 Senate seats to be decided in November 2014, 21 of those now held by Democrats and 15 by Republicans.
