The USS Doris Miller, CVN-81, is an American Naval Aircraft Carrier of the Ford design. It is currently being designed and built in Newport News Shipyard as of 2021.

Named after sailor Doris Miller, a hero of Pearl Harbor, who served on the USS West Virginia during the beginning of World War II on December 7, 1941.

The ship naming ceremony took place in 2021 with attendees including members of his family.

The USS Doris Miller, CVN-81 is the second US Navy ship named after Doris Miller. The first was USS Miller (FF-1091).

USS Miller (FF-1091), originally (DE-1091) was a Knox-class destroyer escort in the United States Navy. She was named for Cook Third Class Doris "Dorie" Miller. She was stricken in 1995.

On 25 August 2021, with six members of Doris Miller's family in attendance, the Navy conducted the First Cut of Steel ceremony at Newport News Shipbuilding, signaling the formal start of construction for the fourth Ford-class aircraft carrier.

In May 2023 a completed steel rudder casting was heated and then quenched in liquid water. Dramatic video is available on UTube.
