This project is a meeting place for users who share the X2c1b Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup, which means they are related along their maternal lines. Users in this group may want to share their family trees with each other to find overlaps and merge duplicate profiles in order to join or expand the World Family Tree and discover new relatives.
Subclade X2 appears to have undergone extensive population expansion and dispersal around or soon after the Last Glacial Maximum, roughly 20,000 years ago. It is more strongly represented in the Near East, the Caucasus and southern Europe and somewhat less strongly present in the rest of Europe.
#The highest concentrations are found in the
Druze Assyrian community in Israel (27%).
Ojibway (Canada) (25%),
Sioux (USA) (15%),
Nuu-Chah-Nulth (12%),
Georgia (8%),
Orkney (Scotland) (7%),
Subclades of X2 are not present in native South Americans.[6]
The oldest known archeological site associated with X2 is Kennewick Man, whose ca. 9000-year old remains were discovered in Washington State.
