The village is located along the Sykkylvsfjorden, just north of the Sykkylven Bridge. It is about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) north of Straumgjerde and 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of Ikornnes.
The 3.94-square-kilometre (970-acre) village has a population (2009) of 4,083. This gives the village a population density of 1,036 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,680 /sq mi).[1]
