Family Name History of "Balinski & Balinska"
The surname Balinski derives its' etymology from the Polish term "bal" which means "a log" or "a beam". The surname Balinski thereby denotes one who was born or lived near a place where tree logs were cut down for building material. There are also a number of places in Poland named Balin, which signifies "a wooden village" which in times past, distinguished them from the villages where the huts were constructed from straw and clay.
The suffix "ski" on the end of a Polish surname indicates a male, while the suffix "ska" added on the end of a Polish surname indicates a female.
Several clans of Polish nobility share the surname Balinski, and the surname also has a registered "Blazon of Arms" and a registered "Crest".
