My grandfather, Yakov Bronfman, was born in Kishinev in 1895. He survived the 1903 and 1905 pogroms as a little boy and so did his family. When he was 17, he emigrated to Santiago, Chile, with his younger brother, Samuel Bronfman. Years later, they brought all the family to Chile. His father, Nahum Bronfman, his mother, and his sisters Berta, Cecilia, Raquel and Clara. He married Ines Horowitz, a Jewish woman born in Moisesville, Argentina and had two sons, one of them my father Jorge Abraham Bronfman. I'm planning to visit Kishinev by the end of this year to honor my grandfather.
