It seems the Caire name is a toponomical name from the southern French Alps. There is the town of Le Caire in Haupt-Alps region. There were several counts of Le Caire. It is not yet known whether those who bear the name are related to them. The name first appears in the late 1400's. It seems to travel east up through the valleys and it seems to have multiplied into several branches around Jausiers in the late 1600's.
