Daniel Cottee came to New Zealand about 1870.From Essex England. He was a miner at theThames goldfields. He married Ellen Kane who was the daughter of one of the Fencibles at Howick. A group of soldiers ex the British Army who came to New Zealand to help with the Maori Wars. One of their daughters was my GRANDMOTHER.
