By the end of the 16th century many French Protestants fled France and settled with similar names in Antwerpen, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Leiden. The name "De Beauvois" appears in England in 1643. This "surname" pertained to the original location and does not indicate a noble or royal ancestry. The city of Beavais was ruled by lord-bishops, unless there is documented prove of a direct male ancestry one can not claim a coat of arms.
