About the Ewen surname

All I know is that my father, Ernst Peter Ewen, emigrated from Kologne, Germany to Chili before WWII to work there with his father, Peter Ewen. Hi My father was an only child and never told anyone about his family. I was named for his mother, Katharina (my second middle name). I don't know whether my parents' families came from a long line of ancestors born in Germany or whether some time in the distant past, a relative on ny father's side emigrated from Scotland or Ireland to Germany. This is theoretically possible, as many people living in Sctland and Ireland emigrated several times in history. I have read that during the fighting between the Highland Clan that many people left. During this time, it is said that the Campbell Clan almost destroyed thr MacEwen Can and that the MacEwen Clan has not had a Chieftain since this. The study of Celtic history suggests that ancient Celts originared from a place that is now part of Germanu. However, many of these ancient Celts were driven out of "Germany" and consequently scattered to a variety of other places. That is all i know so far.
