About the Ferrington surname

The Family Name Of Ferrington

The distinguished surname Ferrington is one of the most notable Anglo / Saxon surnames. Researchers found the first record in Lancaster where they had been seated from very early times. From time to time the surname was also spelt Farrington, Farringdon, Ferringdon and even Ferringtown. Between father and son the name changed mainly because they could not read or write and therefore the name was passed on by word of mouth. The foundlings of the family name Ferrington came from the Anglo / Saxon race when they settled in England, Kent from about 400 A.D. By 1066 the name of Farington had moved to the north of England, Lancashire, and from this name a town called Farrington was founded. As we moved on in time to 1600, kinsmen of the name Ferrington were amongst the many who sailed abroad the armada of small sailing ships to Ireland and the European continent. A family with the name of Edward and Eliza Ferrington, landed in New England, America in 1635, with four children; Edmond Farrington settled in Massachusetts in 1638; Edward Farrington settled in Maryland in 1699; E Farrington settled in Long Island in 1630. Moving to the present day the name of Ferrington is not as well known as Farrington, which has helped me to construct our family tree, dating back to 1767, so far.
