Known variations of FOORD include FORDE, FORD, ALFORD and others. First found in DEVON where they were seated from Ancient times...some believing to be before the Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings 1066 AD. Spread to Ireland and Scotland in later years. First found in CONNACHT and in COUNTY CORK where several distinct Irish Septs all came to be known by the English name FOORD. MOTTO of crest: Without Christ there is no light.
