The Gollehon family are the descendants of Robert Gollehon and Rachel Anne Tilson. They resided in Smyth County, VA until their deaths in 1842 and 1843. They had a large family with eight children two of which are my 2nd Great Grandparents, Rachel and James, because my great grandparents were first cousins. The family still resides in considerable numbers in Smyth and surrounding counties. They have as well spread all over the country with my great grandparents who immigrated to Shelby and Monroe Counties of Missouri in the 1830's. My grandmother, Margaret Emma Gollehon was born in Monroe County, MO

Tracing the Male DNA haplogroup shows matches with many Gallaghers in Northwestern Ireland, notably in Counties Donegal, Intrem, Mayo and Sligo. However, the Gallagher clan is present over most of Ireland and Northern Ireland today in lesser degrees.
