About the McCrocklin surname

The Americanized name McCrocklin originated from Jesse McLaughlin (b. 1756) Jesse McCrocklin's name was originally McLaughlin when he married Nancy Bland, and his son William listed the name McLaughlin when he married Eleanor (Nellie) Beard. Jesse's family emigrated from Ulster, Ireland, but he was Scotts(or Scotch) Irish. Under King James in England, non-Catholic Scottish people were relocated to populate Northern Ireland to guard against the further domination of Catholicism in Ireland. Jesse either came to Fairfax, VA with his family, or he was born there around 1756. He later moved with other Scots-Irish families to Western Pennsylvania, and records of Jesse McLaughlin show he served in the Derry, PA 8th Brigade, 8th Company of the Revolutionary War. In Pennsylvania, Jesse McCrocklin hooked up with the Beard and All (Aulds) families, and moved west to Kentucky. His descendants then spread across Kentucky, to Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.
