The name Rago in Poland harkens back to 1810 when three brothers Rago arrived with Napoleon from Italy to liberate Poland and then on to invade Russia. One of the brothers fell in love with a Polish maiden and married her. However, he was killed, along with his brothers at the Battle of Borodino. As the Russians came back to occupy Poland the widow was taken in by Polish countess and protected...so little is known about the boy child.
The Ragos came from Naples but the name actually is derived from the name of the Spanish province of Aragon, dropping the first A and the end N, in Spain which at one time owned the kingdom of Naples. Rago is a popular name in the northern part of Naples
