Shemin Genealogy and Shemin Family History Information

The name is the Hebrew word for holy oil used in Temple times. As the Torah is read we always delighted in hearing our family name, Shemin, recited Perhaps the name was given to our ancestors.

It may be apocryphal, but I always believed our ancestors were responsible for the holy oil used in Solomon's temple and thereafter.  Thus we played an important role in Biblical times.
