The surname Veishnar is derived from the male personal name Voishnar, which has Germanic roots. It goes back to the Gothic waiþs ("hunting") and nasjan ("to guard, to protect"). The Prussian name Waysnar was mentioned in 1340.

- Dadzibog Voishnar – statesman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Minsk Treasurer (1635), elector of the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Vladislav IV Vasa;
- Filon Voishnar – elector of Vladislav IV Vaza from the Minsk voivodeship;
- Ivan Kazimirovich Weishner – Guard corporal, chauffeur, participant in the liberation of Prague; during the Great Patriotic War he was twice awarded the Order of the Red Star.
