Genealogy Conferences: NGS 2016 Recap
We had a great time meeting everyone at the NGS 2016 Family History Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! Between May 4-7, genealogists and family historians from all around the country gathered at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Boward County Convention Center to enjoy a fascinating array of genealogy lectures and learn more about what’s going on in the world of genealogy.
The Geni booth at NGS 2016 before opening day
At the Geni booth, we welcomed many people interested in discovering more about their family history. We happily shared the benefits of connecting to over 100 million profiles in Geni’s World Family Tree and the power of collaboration in genealogy. It was also a great opportunity to meet a couple of Geni curators!
Geni Curator Jeff Meyerson with Geni’s General Manager, Mike Stangel
For the first two days of the conference, we were lucky to have curator Jeff Meyerson join us to help spread the word of Geni. It was also Jeff’s first genealogy conference!
Great to meet John Kessel, one of Geni’s many volunteer curators
We were also excited to meet Geni curator John Kessel, who was able to stop by for the final two days of NGS. We’re incredibly grateful to have such amazing volunteers!
Attendees learning more about Geni’s World Family Tree
Most of the conference presentations took place on the third floor of the huge convention center, so we were greeted by lots of friendly folks during lunch breaks and after the last lectures of the day.
Geni water bottles made for a fun giveaway
Everyone who stopped by the booth were treated with a free Geni water bottle!
Boarding the MyHeritage dinner cruise
We also had the chance to enjoy some time outside of the exhibit hall. The MyHeritage team hosted a fun-filled dinner cruise on the first night of the conference. Despite the rain, everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing the amazing views out on the water.
Good times at the MyHeritage dinner cruise
It was a fantastic week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year at the NGS 2017 Family History Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina!
