Today we’re excited to announce that Geni has reached an amazing milestone – 150 million profiles!

From the very beginning, our goal has been to create the definitive family tree of the entire world. Our collection of profiles has grown steadily over the years, with millions of lineages intersecting, overlapping and culminating into a World Family Tree of over 89 million people and their ancestors. Nowhere else will you find such a large, high-quality single family tree curated by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Created from the collaborative research of millions of genealogists and family historians, the World Family Tree has seen significant growth as thousands of profiles are merged together everyday. A truly global endeavor, Geni’s World Family Tree connects relatives from over 160 countries and all seven continents.

It is only a matter of time before the millions of standalone trees on Geni find their connection to the World Family Tree. With more and more profiles added everyday, we are well on our way to becoming the go-to family tree reference for the entire world.

If you’re one of the 61 million profiles not yet connected to the World Family Tree, don’t despair. We encourage you to keep researching and adding profiles to your tree. As more and more new users begin their own trees and current users continue to add relatives to the World Family Tree, soon you will find the Tree Match that will connect you to millions of relatives on Geni.

We remain committed to bringing you the tools you need to research your ancestry and discover many more new and exciting connections. We’ve already seen an improvement in the quality of the World Family Tree after introducing MyHeritage’s Record Matches and Smart Matches to Geni. And enhancements to support multilingual profiles have made it even better for people of all nationalities and cultures to work together on their shared ancestry. As more matches are confirmed and merged, errors corrected and information verified, the World Family Tree will continue to grow, thrive and endure for future generations.

We’re thrilled to have reached this significant milestone and we couldn’t have done it without the commitment of our incredible community of researchers!

Thank you!
