Seventy-five years ago on July 2, 1937, aviator Amelia Earhart and navigator Frederick Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe. An aviation pioneer, Earhart was the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic. In honor of the 75th anniversary of her disappearance, a team of researchers is setting out on a new expedition to locate her aircraft, which is believed to have gone down near an island in the Pacific Ocean.
