Profile of the Day: Charles Darwin
On April 19, 1882, Charles Darwin died at his home, the Down House. In his groundbreaking publication, On the Origin of Species, Darwin introduced his theory of evolution to the world. The book and his future publications would prove to form the foundation of our current understanding of how man evolved through the process of natural selection.
Considered on of the most influential figures in history, Darwin is buried in Westminister Abby, near other influential scientists Isaac Newton and John Herschel.
