Happy 80th birthday to Harrison Ford!

He was born on July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Christopher Ford and Dorothy Nidelman. His maternal grandparents, Harrison Nidelman and Annie Lifshitz, were Jewish immigrants from Minsk, Belarus. While his paternal grandparents, John Fitzgerald Ford and Florence Niehaus, were of Irish and German ancestry.

Ford was working as a carpenter before he finally found success as an actor. His career has spanned decades and has included some of the most iconic roles in film history. He first catapulted to international fame with his breakthrough role as Han Solo in Star Wars. In 1981, he brought yet another legendary character to life onscreen, starring as Indiana Jones in Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Did you know that in addition to acting, Ford is also a long-time pilot? Ford owns a large ranch in Jackson, Wyoming and offers his helicopter for emergency services in the area.
