Jesse Owens

On September 12, 1913, Olympic track and field athlete Jesse Owens was born in Oakville, Alabama. At the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin, Adolf Hitler hoped to use the games to showcase Aryan superiority, even using Nazi propaganda to depict Africans as inferior. However, Owens surprised everyone by winning four Olympic gold medals.
