Julia Child

Today we celebrate Julia Child‘s 100th birthday! In 1961, Child co-authored the cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, which quickly turned Child into a culinary sensation. Praised for its precise attention to detail and helpful illustrations, the book made fine French cuisine accessible to the general public. Throughout her career, she continued to write numerous cookbooks and became a regular fixture on television. Today the “French Chef” is remembered as one of America’s most beloved culinary icons.

Did you know her 8th great grandfather John Martyn was a cook? Guess those culinary skills must run in the family!
