Happy birthday, Justin Bieber! Today the pop star turns 22.

Bieber was born on March 1, 1994 in London, Ontario, Canada. From a young age, Bieber showed a special talent for music. Growing up, he learned to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. At the age of 12, his mother uploaded a video of Bieber performing at a local singing competition to YouTube so their family and friends to see. As she continued to upload more videos, Bieber’s popularity on the site grew and before long, he became a YouTube sensation and caught the eye of talent agent and marketing executive Scooter Braun. With Braun’s help, Bieber was able to gain an audition with R&B star Usher. Impressed with his performance, Usher signed the 15-year-old Bieber to a recording contract.

Overnight, Bieber catapulted to stardom with the release of his best selling single, “Baby.” Bieber as since sold over 75 million albums worldwide and has earned three Grammy nominations, wining one for Best Dance Recording at the 2016 Grammys.
