For a couple of years I've wanted to build an app to show maps of ancestry. I finally did it over the past couple of weeks.

I hope to have it hosted somewhere soon. I initially wanted to use the Geni API (and still might) but figured more folks could use it if I could process uploaded GEDCOMs.
Let me know what you think.
Hi, Rolando
Yes, the GEDCOM may be more broadly accessible, but by using the Geni API you could make it more interactive.
For example, from a 'starting profile' you could show the "walk forward in time" as the module researches the descendants one generation at a time -- and then, from that same starting point, "walk backward" through ancestors (probably in a different color?). Watching the dynamic pattern (as with this example http://mapstory.org/maps/1327/) is really interesting.
While you could make a similar 'walk through time' with a GEDCOM, the Geni API might be easier to use to allow the user to 'step through' each generation.
Just some thoughts ....
