What I believe to be true: The middle initial stands for Cashion. He is related to O.W. Holmes. (My Aunt and Uncle assure me that we are, and his name is Wendell.) There was a Christopher Holmes who received two land grants of about 200 acres each from Isle of Wight, Va. about the time he married Martha. He served under Major Warden during the Revolutionary War for a summer when he was on patrol and sought reimbursement for crop loss. I think he became a Methodist, although other family members were Baptist. We are supposed to be related to Myers, Lees, Hardys,Browns, Daviss, Floyds, etc. and I have hit a brick wall. Can anyone help?
I suspect that one of the relatives from New England relocated in Va. There were many other Holmes families in Va. at this time, and twoother Christophers who were born about 30 years before.
