Upgraded! Very glad to be here for the long haul. I think you guys are doing everything the right way (except blocking gedcom uploads - you gotta get that solved!) and I hope you win the race to critical mass.

Is a lifetime account still available?

It was very recently. It's new regular price is $417, but over Christmas it was discounted 25% off the regular price, making it roughly $313 or so.

If Lifetime it is still available at the discounted price, then I will upgrade now. @Steve, your post makes me think its unlikely to remain at $313 or so.

That e-mail and the blog were quite clear that that Promotion ended Dec. 27th. Moreover, you apparently could only get if for yourself thru the e-mail. As a gift, it could be bought thru the Blog (etc. ?)
