The double murder of the Marais', a farming couple in the Cape Karoo took place on 14th May 1998. The bodies of Anna (85), and her husband, Johannes Wynand Marais Hannes (88), were found on their farm Baviaanskrans outside Ladysmith in the Cape Karoo. They had both been shot at close range. Their bodies were found lying in front of an open safe in a bedroom.
