Eldercide, the death of a person aged >60 years due to intentional injuries inflicted by another person, is an understudied public health and social problem.
The global average Eldercide rate is 4.5/100 000. Some countries have a far higher rate, for example South Africa's rate is 25.2/100 000 for people aged >60 years, compared with SA homicide rates of 56.7 per 100 000 for young adults aged 15 - 29 years and 58.7 per 100 000 for adults aged 30 - 44 years.
This project is intended to record as many victims of Eldercide as possible, and link them to our Geni tree. This project may end up as a Master Project Index, but in the interim all countries can be added here.
Add the names of victims with their age and date of death (Or PM/email Donovan Penaluna: donno(at)axxess.co.za). If the person is on Geni please add the link to their profile, and make this a bold entry. If the person is not on Geni but has an external source, add a link to an external source but do not make the link bold. This will help us to see who still needs to be added/found on Geni.
