About Arthur George Hoffert
Lost his eye when he was 4 years old. A bird picked it out. The bird was in a cage in the basement. It was caught by his older brothers. Art wanted to look at it and with a darting pick his eye was gone by the long bill of the bird. There were no doctors at that time close, so it had to heal by itself.
He had a broken leg at the time of his mother's funeral (age 12). After his mother's funeral he was kicked by a horse and had to crawl to the house.
