About Friedrick Hoffert
Friedrick and his brothers came to Herscher, Illinois January 1993 from Alsace to avoid government forced service. They were at the age to be forced into compulsory service.
Friedrick married Caroline of Herscher, Illinois. They had 12 children, three dying in infancy. They lived in Chicago for a time where he ran a milk rounte wagon, moved to Kankakee, Illinois. They moved to Rolfe, IA February 21, 1896. Twenty-seven immigrant families came on the same train. They lived in rail cars for four days, while getting a house ready to live in.
Friedrick married 2 more times after Caroline. Divorced from the first quickly and married Polly. He and Polly moved to Havelock in 1936 into a small home just east of the Methodist Church, where he lived until he passed away. Polly continued to live there until her death.
