About Benjamin Arnold
In 1683, Benjamin Arnold was a signer of a petition for St. Stephens Parish, New Kent County (now King and Queen County), Virginia. in 1688, he received a 1,200-acre home plantation on the Mattaponi River at Rickahock from his father, by virtue of a re-grant.
In the early 1690s, Benjamin made a pact with the Chickahomini Indians whereby they gave him 1,800 acres at Pamunkey Neck in return for 600 acres between the Mattaponi and Rappahannock Rivers.
In 1702 he was living in King William County, Virginia, acting as sub-sheriff. He later lived at Presque Isle on the Mattaponi River, near his brother Anthony Arnold, Jr. This land bordered that of John Hurt and Robert Bird.
In 1703, Benjamin was granted 1,770 acres lying between Hickory Creek and the Mattaponi River.
It appears that Benjamin was living in King William County until his death. in 1725, his widow gave property to her daughter, which showed the daughter's maiden name rather than her married name of Temple.
