Columbus Leroy Meadows of South Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away June 15, 2011.
Leroy was the son of Mary and Lonnie Meadows of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jean; and siblings, Buster, Virginia, James and Harold.
He is survived by sisters, Louise (Jim) Doss and Mary Evelyn (Harold) Abbott.
Leroy and Jean had three children, Terry (Edna) Meadows, Linda (David) Chapman and Debra (Ed) Fischer; six grandchildren, Michael (Alexis) Meadows, Matthew (Serena) Chapman, Wendy (Jim) Smith, Andrew Chapman, Lori (Jeremy) Sutton and Nicki (Nick) Gohlmann; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Meadows, Cheyenne Chapman, Bradley Sutton, Colton Chapman, Wesley Sutton, Audrey Chapman and Carter Gohlmann.
Leroy was born June 1, 1922, in Cabell and graduated from Scott High School. He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corps in WWII. After the war, he and his friends founded the Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 in Madison and proudly held membership number Seven. Leroy worked in the food industry for most of his life. He was a talented wood craftsman and many keepsakes remain with his loving family.
The family would like to thank the Volusia/ Flagler Hospice Care Center for their love and support in his final days.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes.
