Notes

Hannah Ogden Jones was the daughter of David Ogden, [son of John and Mary (Diament) Ogden]. Her mother was probably NOT Mary (Molly) Elmer, the second wife, because the will of Mary (Molly) Elmer's father, Rev. Daniel Elmer, in 1753, mentions two children of his [deceased] daughter Mary Ogden, namely Jason and Elmer, and Hannah Ogden Jones had two brothers named Jason and Elmer. They would have been step-brothers.

Records say that Mary Elmer died before 1753. There is a record of David Ogden marrying Mary Bateman, both of Deerfield, license 13 Sep 1759, and David Ogden of Fairfield wrote a will 19 Nov 1759 which was proved 18 Dec 1760. His wife was Mary, late widow of Thomas Bateman; the children in the will were David, Nathaniel, Jason, Abigail wf. Jonathan Lawrence, Hannah Jones, Elmer, Rachel Jamison, Benjamin and John. David's brother's name was Joseph Ogden. Source: Cumberland County Gen. Data, p.119-120 and p.201 and p.213-214.

There is a will in the same source, p. 14, for Thomas Bateman, Cohansey, w. 31 Jan 1759; pr. 10 Mar. 1759. Wf. Mary; chd. Thomas, Sarah wf. of John Bereman, Rebecca and Phebe. See also "The Bateman Connection,"pp. 159, 160, 162 for Thomas Bateman and his widow, Mary (Ogden) Smith who married David Ogden (Thomas 4, second marriage, p.161, "The Bateman Connection.") The order of the children and their birthdates are in question except for John and Abdon, where "Cumb. Co. Gen. Data" p.213 states that these are the dates.
