Marriage Notes (Dinah Bonham)

Bible contained Copy of Certificate of Marriage 1773:

"These may certify that this day, John Sutton of Amwell and Dinah Bonham of Kingwood and Both of the County of Hunterdon and West New Jersey, were lawfully Joined together in Marriage and pronounced Husband and Wife by me, David Sutton, Minister of the Gospel at Kingwood, as Witness our Hands in presence of us.

Witnesses: Uriah Bonham; Anchor Bonham; Malakiah Bonham; Edward Thatcher; Henry Rounsaville; William Sutton; John Sutton; Daniel Howell; G. Grand. 

Dinah Bonham married John Sutton on Dec. 8, 1773. He was born July 25, 1748 to Jonas Sutton. Dinah and Jonas had 7 children: Anchor, Mary, Uriah, Elizabeth Dinah, Prudence and Sarah. Shortly before the Revolution, Sutton bought a farm on the south side of the Kingwood-Locktown Road and built a stone house, where he and Dinah raised their family. John Sutton died relatively young at the age of 47 on Oct. 3, 1795, without writing a will. Dinah survived him until Dec. 3, 1810 when she died at the age of 54.
