Notes and Commentary

Her husband Thomas Parke came from Roxbury, Massachusetts to Wethersfield, Connecticut with his father in 1639. About 1650, they moved to New London, Connecticut where he became a deacon of the church. Aboutsix years later he moved to Stonington, Connecticut. By 1680, he hadmoved back to New London and settled on land which he already owned there. In 1686, he petitioned for the establishment of Preston which was granted and incorporated in 1687. There he organized and became adeacon of the First Church of Preston.

The will of her husband names his loving wife Dorothy, son John, son Thomas deceased, son Robert deceased, son Nathaniel, son William, and three daughters Martha Dorothy and Alice.

Her husband Thomas Parke came from Roxbury, Massachusetts to Wethersfield, Connecticut with his father in 1639. About 1650, they moved to New London, Connecticut where he became a deacon of the church. About six years later he moved to Stonington, Connecticut. By 1680, he had moved back to New London and settled on land which he already owned there. In 1686, he petitioned for the establishment of Preston which was granted and incorporated in 1687. There he organized and became a deacon of the First Church of Preston.
