Dr. Heinrich Haller-Munck and Paula Haller-Munck lived in Kiel-Gaarden at Stoschstraße 1 since 1923 and ran a drugstore in their own house until November 1938.

Dr. Heinrich Haller-Munck was born on 11 January 1866 in Deutsch-Krone (Regierungsbezirk Marienwerder / former German province of West Prussia) and was a pharmacist by profession. His wife Paula Haller-Munck, born Munck, was born in Berlin on October 1, Both were of Jewish faith. During the Reichspogromnacht from 9th to 10th November 1938 the drugstore was completely demolished and the son of the couple, the lawyer Hans-Ulrich, was sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

The family was not allowed to sell their destroyed drugstore, and the incomes of the married couple decreased more and more, as a large part of the former clientele - frightened by the national socialists - no longer wanted to buy or to buy from Jews. In addition, the high levies that Jews had to pay to the National Socialist regime, as well as the "Aryanization" of Jewish possessions, began. Thus, the Haller-Munck family lived increasingly in poor conditions and had to fear for their lives every day.

In March 1942, Dr. Heinrich Haller-Munck received the request from the Secret State Police (Gestapo) to vacate his own apartment by the end of the month. On April 15, the couple was finally accommodated in an apartment of the Kleine Kuhberg 25, under degrading circumstances.

Shortly before the imminent deportation to the Zwangsghetto Theresienstadt, the then 76-year-old Dr. Heinrich Haller-Munck and his 63-year-old spouse Paula and several affected Kiel Jews separated from life through suicide.
