Biography

Samuel Frost was born in Cambridge, (then) Massachusetts Bay Colony in February 1637/8, the son of Edmund and Tomasin (Clench) Frost.[1]

He married first Mary Cole ("Coale") on 12 October 1663 in Cambridge, Middlesex County,[2][3] the daughter of Isaac Cole Sr. and his wife Joanna (Jones) Cole. He removed to Billerica as early as 1674, by which time he had married Elizabeth Miller,[4] sister of his brother Joseph's wife Hannah. Elizabeth, born 1649, was the daughter of Rev. John Miller.

Samuel probably married a third wife, Ruth ____ [Marshall ??], who married John Dutton after Samuel's death.[5]

He was both a physician and a building contractor by occupation.

Dr. Samuel Frost died on 7 January 1717/8 at Billerica, Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, New England.[6][7]

Samuel Frost left no will. His estate was administered by Thomas Frost of Billerica, Joseph Frost & Edmund Frost both of Charlestown, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Province. An inventory of the estate of Doct Samll ffrost late of Billerica deceased was taken on 15 January 1717/18, which totaled £218, and included land at Rock hill, Candlewood Island, Prospect hill, land on the west side of the Concord River, the great swamp and Trebble Cove. There was no mention of a widow.[8] No relationships are mentioned in the documents. Samuel had a brother named Thomas, who could be the named administrator.

He was probably buried in Billerica, although no gravestone is extant.[9]
